My story started in March of this year. Mold was discovered along the walls of the living room and bedroom of the unit I had rented for twelve years. What happened and continues to happen as a result of it is still ongoing. Outcome is yet to be determined.
In the city of Los Angeles there are inspections done every three to five years on apartments with units over two in a building. These inspections are done to insure that the dwellings are code safe and to see if units are occupancy compliant. There was a notice posted near the mailbox with a date of April 1, 2019.
Me and my at the time roommate , Ron, thought it was an April fool's joke. I remember laughing about it. " Really! Yeah. An inspection on April 1.. Who does this"?
Speaking with my friend Super K, about the mold and the pending inspection, he suggested not to tell the landlady about it. He said the inspector can relay that information to her. Out of courtesy, I called her twenty minutes before the city inspector's arrival.
When hearing the news, she was calm! Her voice was low toned and never gave way to the volcanic temper she has. This was an alarm that something was brewing. And it wasn't coffee.
Too be continued...
